In Dexinyuan Community, Jingwanzi Street, Yuhua District, Changsha, there is a well-known “Hao Ren Duo(a lot of good people)” Rice Noodle Restaurant. The location of the restaurant is not conspicuous, and the signboard is not eye-catching, but it is called “the most lovly rice noodle restaurant in Changsha” by many people in the local area. What is going on here?
Five years after opening, 30,000 free rice noodles were sent out from here
Hao Ren Duo Rice Noodle Restaurant is a small shop that manages breakfast. As a couple, Liu Guoxing and Zhou Meiqi are both the owner and the waiter of this shop. There is a side dish of rice noodles and tea at the restaurant's entrance. Customers can add it for free by themselves. The tea is also provided for free to passersby: as long as you are thirsty, you can come in and have a cup of hot tea.
Not only that, whenever parents bring their preschool children to breakfast, the couple will prepare a free breakfast for their children. And if any 60-year-old “three-no(means people that have no workability, no income, and no relatives or relatives don't have the ability to take care of them)” elderly people come to the restaurant to have noodles, the couple will not charge any for it. This is a rule that has not changed since the restaurant opened in 2011. Also, for the passing homeless beggars and hard-working street cleaners, the couple will invite them to the restaurant to have a bowl of free rice noodles.

Maybe because their kind act moved many neighbors, in 2015, a Mr. Wu from the same community donated 200 bowls of rice noodles to the restaurant. In order to make the donations of caring people been fully used, the community has specially produced many boards that printed “Rice Noodle on the Wall” on it and hanged them on the wall of the shop. If anyone has needs, they can take a board to deduct the noodle money. Later, donations gradually increased, and Liu Guoxing took a small book to note all the information.

Even after the boards on the wall was taken out, and the donations on the note book bottomed out. When encountering preschool children and the “three-no” elderly people who came to eat noodles, the couple would still be happy to provide a free meal. According to local media, they gave away 30,000 bowls of free rice noodles in the first five years of the shop's opening.
Life is struggle for the couple, and neighbors “crowdfunding” a restaurant
The reason for the couple to do this is starting from the origin of the restaurant. Liu Guoxing was originally an employee of a state-owned enterprise, and his wife was a housewife. Beginning in 1996, the efficiency of his company began to decline severely, from a salary of more than 100 yuan a month, Liu's rest of career was finally been financially buyout (means the company paid for his rest of working years for a low price) and he became a laid-off worker. Due to the special nature of his previous job, Liu suffered from emphysema and was unable to do heavy work. In those years, he has done sales and opened a fast-food restaurant, but he has always been difficult to get out of trouble. In 2011, when neighbors learned that a rice noodle restaurant was for sale, they told Liu to buy the shop and run it himself, but it was not an easy job for Liu's family at the time. Facing the dilemma, the surrounding people have did a lot of affairs to help. Liu's relatives and friends have lended him the startup funds, the neighbors also brought over their extra pots and pans to the shop. Together with the old equipment in the original restaurant, a new shop was opened in this way.

The help of the neighbors does not stop there. At the starting years of the shop, an old chef in the community taught the couple to make soup bases. Sometimes they were too busy, and there was always one or two neighbors to help. 70-year-old Su Xixia helps the couple to borrow money at the beginning of the restaurant, and now she still will volunteer in the shop whenever she has time.
With everyone's help, the couple's shop runs very well. The income from the restaurant with Liu's retirement salary finally resolved the financial dilemma in the family.
With the sharing of love, a “Good People Street” was finally formed
After reports from the local media and the community's propaganda of the noodle restaurant, Dexinyuan community now has 13 shops to join the team to help the needy, and provide free services or long-term discount services to needy households, the elderly, and children. A “Good People Street” has been formed, and the community has also established a “Good People, Good Stores” Street Association.
